The Library offers a diversified range of services to users:

  • Welcoming new users (introducing resources and services)
  • In-person viewing
  • Borrowing (local and home)
  • Assisted search
  • Reference service
  • Self-service photocopying service
  • Inter-library borrowing service
  • Training sessions (workshops)
  • Managing the Egas Moniz institutional Repository
  • Service to assist with the prevention and detection of plagiarism
  • Assistance with research activities
  • Wireless access to the Egas Moniz CRL network and the internet


Users’ Rights and Duties

It is imperative to set up a mutual understanding between the Library and its users, in accordance with the Regulations in force, so that the Library is able to offer a quality service.

Users’ Rights:

  • Access to the Library services free of charge, for local viewing and borrowing books
  • Access to the equipment that allows viewing the digital information resources
  • Personalised and efficient assistance
  • Receive updated information on the Library’s functioning
  • Take part in the Library services’ continuous improvement process.


Users’ Duties:

  • To comply with the Library’s Regulations, respecting other users, as well as obeying the instructions and remarks made by staff, namely:
  • Identify oneself whenever requested by staff
  • Remain silent, indispensable to the work and study done by other users and staff
  • Ensure the works being consulted remain in proper condition, as too the equipment used
  • Use the Reading Rooms for individual study only (for group studying, please use the room set up for this purpose, located on Level 0 of the Support Building)
  • Obey the deadline set for returning any books borrowed
  • Respect the law in force relating to Copyright in the event of reproducing any type of document
  • To not drink, eat, smoke or speak on your mobile phone inside the Library
  • To not return or change the order in which the books are lined up on the shelves (the books viewed must be placed on the carts in the corridor when you’re done with them).


Any Library staff is authorised to act in the way they feel is most suited in the event of a manifest disrespect for the rules set, including expelling the users, among other penalties.
